1967 Mercedes Benz 230SL Roadster - European Version

And yes, it is RED with a black interior and cloth top. No hard top. 4-speed.
Salvage Title. Lightly hit in right front.
I have already purchased:
I bought this car from an insurance company. As you can see, it suffered damage to the right front. I have photographed the damage for you. The body has some waves where someone has done an amateur paint job. I had planned on fixing the RF fender and having some fun with the car. I drove it up and down the highway in front of my house and it runs fine. As it came from an insurance company, it has a salvage title, so you need a safety inspection before you can title it. I have purchased a new windshield rubber seal for the car, and a new chrome grill surround, what you see damaged in the photos. We all know what these are worth restored. If you put a new fender on this, the parts would be a couple of hundred dollars, plus I would do a new inner fender as it is rusted, and per the on-line sites, those are under a hundred dollars, you would have a fun car to bomb around in.
The car can be approached from two positions. I had planned to throw a front inner and outer fender on it, fix a few small details, like having the rear window in the top replaced, and "bomb" around in it and finish restoring as the mode struck me. If one wanted to do a full high end restoration, you would need to replace the rear frame rails, both front and rear inner fenders, both rockers, floor sections, and obviously, still the right front fender. While it smokes slightly when drive, it has NOT been driven in years, but firs right up and appears to be mechanically solid. If not for the damage, I would say one could drive it home, so to speak.
$8,800.00 or . . .? Make an offer, I probably will not say no.
Drives OK. I drove it down my road and back. I had always wanted one of these, but space and time have forced me to reduce my projects.
