1958 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham

This car has been sold.

This was written long ago, and is only posted here for historical reference, the car is now almost finished.

I think this car is worth around $78,000.00.  My desire is to keep it, but my physical condition since my MVA is preventing me from working on my cars, and when I am able to spend time with them, I do not have the energy to do much.

This is a car I thought I would never sell.  My accident has prompted me to find homes for some of the cars.

The following vitals may be all you need to buy the car, otherwise, there are many pictures and as vivid a description as I could tell.  I tend to over emphasize what I consider faults, but then you are prepared for worse case - the pleasantries are just that.  I will help arrange shipping, and have some experience with helping to ship over seas.

Body # 563
Paint Code 90
VIN: 58P0352555
Mileage (Obviously this mileage is what is showing on the odometer.  I am not Karnack.): 29,662  As when we rebuilt the engine, everything was standard, no oversized bearings or rings, I would "assume" that it is only 129,662, but no one knows.  The car was originally delivered to Nebraska and has been in a low moisture environment its entire life.

New Paint - Only Brougham to be painted Olympic White
Chrome plated as needed
Interior needs carpet
Engine rebuilt, all moving parts replaced with parts from EGGE and engine was balanced
Transmission was re-built
New Tires

The car had almost NO rust as demonstrate in the photos at the bottom of this listing taken before it was painted.  It was painted to be a driver.

The car is on a spring suspension.  I bought the car, because whoever did the conversion, left everything but the air bags and assemblies in place.  The lines are there, the relays, and the compressor is still on the generator.

The car is almost completed.  It has not been "de-bugged" yet.  I have driven it about twenty miles.  It does need a fuel issue rectified, probably one of the accelerator pumps aged after they were rebuilt years ago.  The rubber in the suspension is hard as a rock and needs replacement before.

I was crippled in an automobile accident over two years ago.  My hobby was working on my cars.  I cannot do that anymore, plus with all the uncertainty in my life, and the depression, I have been selling off many of my cars.  My Brougham was restored to be a daily driver.  This is not a show car, it is a car you can drive now, have fun with, and slowly finish and/or correct any deficiencies.  It is an Eldorado Brougham.  It was originally a car with very minimal rust.  I have pictures of all the original rust spots if you have concerns.  In fact, I have pictures of the car through its restoration.  The areas that need attention yet is that I have not taken it to my front end shop for a alignment and check out to make it roadworthy.  It has new tires, engine transmission, drive shaft, etcetera.  I paid great attention to mechanicals as I intended to be driving the car for daily errands.  These parts are partially listed below and I have attached a few photos of the parts in storage.  I am still on crutches so pulling these down and organizing them is impossible.  We closed a building and they moved the extra Brougham parts to the barn.  Before the "move" there was four shelves over 20' long with parts and beer flats all brougham parts.  There also is a dash, grill, radiator support bracket, new windshield in its crate, etcetera.  There are a few other cars mixed in with the Brougham parts photos, like my sons 442 and a few Pierce Arrow parts for good measure.  I may consider partial interesting car trades.

There are no vanities with the car.

I took many pictures so you may make a fair personal analysis on the condition of the car.  There are three pieces of chrome and stainless that are  missing.  They are still at the chrome shop.  The side molding above the skirts, and the panhandle on the RR door.  There many pictures, those of you that are serious, I strongly ask that you wait for all of them to come in.  I made them larger so you can examine details of the car.  after all, this is a lot of money.  These photographs were taken July 11, 2003.

The little things still need attention.  There are NO vanities.  The trunk is original, but the carpet is threadbare in places.  The last Brougham on eBay that was original (meaning no restoration efforts), needing pain, all mechanicals and some chrome work and general touch up went for $42,500.  This car was painted a few years ago, with additional touch-up last month.  It had essentially NO RUST.  I photographed the rusted areas years ago, before it was painted and those are posted at my web site.  There is one Brougham painted Olympic White, per the Brougham registry - this one.

Now, my philosophy on interiors.  I used to gut a car and replace everything.  How foolish I was.  Now I appreciate the patina of the original leather and as much of the interior as possible.  The fabric seat bolsters were worn out and have all been re-upholstered in original fabric, there are photos on my web site of the original interior, and in fact, the car before it was painted, the white leather is sound.  It has cracks, but no obvious deformities, but feel free to re-do the leather if you like.  I like it the way it is.  The headliner is original, as is the carpet.  In the case of the carpet, you either need to replace the drivers side, or all of it, your call as you are the new owner.  The car is being sold as is, where is.

The car is on springs, but one of the reasons I wanted this car, besides its original condition of almost no rust, was that all the air suspension parts are in place except the actual buckets.  The air lines stop at each wheel, the compressor works and the sensors are in place, of course without being able to check it out, I have no idea of there condition, but Mastermind sells all replacement parts for the system.

Here is a partial list of what has been done:

Here is a partial list of what I fell still needs attention, if you care:

The last Brougham that sold on eBay that was original, checked paint, original drive line and interior, needing at best substantial touchup and at worse, everything, sold for $42,500.00.  I open to offers with or with out trades.

No vanities.

The most recent photographs, July 11 of 2003:

I have the original A/C compressor and brackets on a shelf.  It comes with the car.

The holy grail.  The air compressor for the air ride.  Rare!

There is pitting on some of the trim.

Original trunk.  Good or bad?  But original.

Notice the missing letter.  The O is missing a stud as well.  What a gorgeous car.

Please note the small dents on the right side.  The headliner is original and good, but if you drop it, I think these might pop out.  My stainless shop in Denver said no problem.  He needs to come and repair a deep scratch in our DeLorean and could do the roof at the same time.  He is the one with the three trim pieces.  They do great work, they are just methodical.  I just wanted everything disclosed to you.

More pitted chrome.  Original.  The "dog-leg" piece that is to the left is in Denver being chromed.  To have those spears chromed would not be a large project.

I know these are not the correct wheels but they work for now while you look for a correct set of turbines.

Note the passenger door mirror.  What a beautiful car.

Note the missing ELDORADO letters.   McVey or MasterMind has them.

Where these chips came from, no one knows.  Gremlins.

Where these chips came from, no one knows.  Gremlins.

These pictures should leave you with no doubt as to the condition if the car.

There a few spots like this that need attention.

I cannot explain this.  There was a little rust spot here.  I asked that it be sandblasted to eradicate the rust which it was.  Bit it was never fixed, just painted.  I want you to see the good with the not so good.

You can see the SS that is above the skirt that is missing, it is being polished at a shop in Denver.  They are also plating the RR door pan handle piece.

There are imperfections in some of chrome.  This chrome came with the "parts" car I purchased that was in pieces and under restoration.  It is not that bad, but you needed to know.

There is pitting in the chrome bumper on this side.

These were taken September 14, 2002.  As the interior was coming along.

Extra Parts, up for discussion:

These were taken March 27, 2002.  It is coming along.

The following photos are here simply as a reference.  It confirms that the car was almost rust free.

These were taken January 22, 2000
