1937 Cord Phaeton SOLD
With the market going down,
collector cars should be going up.
Who knows anymore?
For Sale: One Cord 1937 Phaeton
under going full restoration.
Almost ready for paint, and most parts purchased
I am open to offers or interesting proposals as well . . .

These are NOT photos of my car. My car is a PHAETON - four Passenger.
See below:
But of three different
finished 812 Cord Convertibles. The interior shot is a Phaeton.
The Cream Yellow with the Red leather interior
is my choice for finish.
September, 2005: The car is still as pictured. As it is in pieces, my plan is to start with having the cowl painted and the car jammed. I am planning on Ford Cigarette Cream Yellow. We may paint the doors as well. This work should start soon. My goal is to bring it to the point where it will start and move under its own power, this should make a purchase decision easier for you. - Steven
November 18, 2005: Work was started as of last Monday to start to finish the car. It should be making good progress now.
December 8, 2005: I have raised the price to reflect the many recent expensive parts that have been purchased and the additional work completed on the Phaeton. There is not much left to buy for the completion of the car. The wood for the frame, the top bows for the convertible top, all the chrome for the outside exhaust has been purchased; and more. The body is almost ready for its primer. There has been NO bondo used in any part of the car. Where needed, lead has been used. The car should be ready for paint by the end of the year. - Steven
The following photos were taken December 8, 2005:
$95,000.00 as is, and you can take over final restoration from Chuck, or your restorer . . .

Historical background
Fall 2002 - I am frustrated. I am very frustrated. I am on my second body man who has been pre-paid for his work, and then stopped working. The last one stole a car and many tools and belongings from my shop, like my Yamaha FG-180 guitar from my freshman year at the University of Colorado thirty years ago. In October of 2001 I was in an auto accident that almost took my life. I am handicapped from that accident. I am depressed. I am selling her. She is soooo close to being done. I am thinking of selling my Phaeton and keeping my Beverly. Finish the body work, mainly the fenders, paint it, leather is purchased, chrome is mainly done, engine is built and sitting on a pallet, transaxle is ready to be assembled, all machine work is done and all parts purchased, she is soooo close. Feel free to fly in and inspect her. The new photographs I took show the work that has been done. All body replacement panels came from Auburn Cord parts in Wellington, KS. I bought the car for a little over $40,000 off of eBay many years ago. I probably have well over an additional $40,000 into her, my wife is upset, I am handicapped from the accident, etcetera, you know what these things cost, I will take $78,000.00, or?, for a quick sale. You are not that far from having a done car at a substantial savings. Take advantage of my depression and buy the car.

Yes, the intended colors are cigarette cream, with a red interior.
Yes, it is, or will be cigarette cream yellow with red leather. Restoration was started, and then she sat. Engine is ready for stuffing, transmission is rebuilt, body is stripped, all replacement body panels have been purchased and most installed, rockers, and floor panels as needed, the fenders are not completed yet, the majority of the chrome is completed, leather is purchased, etcetera.
The car is stripped, has nothing to hide and she is under restoration, so it is priced at $78,000.00 as is. As more work is done, if done, price will be adjusted.
July, 2002 The panels have mostly been replaced making the photos below in some aspects obsolete. I am moving kind of slow, due to my automobile accident and have lost interest, again due to the accident. I will post new photos as soon as I am able to get some help.
The VIN is 1127H
C91 1127
FB1635
The last owner was King Jamison of Bristol, Tennessee. He owned it for many decades and was a long time ACD member.
I can arrange for the car to be finished to your specifications. The price will rise as I complete more of the car, or, stay static if status quo prevails. The car will be around $165,000.00 completed. The completed price IS subject to change unless we had a contract.

These are all thumbnail photographs, you need to click on them to enlarge them.
These photographs were taken September 21, 2002 at great effort. I had a friend that helped me, actually he did everything as I am now disabled, assemble the car so that it looks more like a Cord Phaeton. I made these pictures into thumbnails but when you click on the thumbnail photograph, the picture will enlarge. These are large photos so you can examine the car and the parts in close detail. There are pictures of the interior, seats, some miscellaneous parts, headlamp buckets, gas tank, etcetera included as well. Steve felt that we should show you the chrome as well, so he unwrapped a representative sample of the pieces that are chromed. They are beautiful. The bumpers are the only large pieces to be chromed yet. Check out the original tires.
These photographs were taken by me on crutches after my latest surgery, on July 21, 2002, so no critiquing:

Grill for Cord shot past the Pierce Arrow. Hood is in
quilt. The seats are on the floor next to the grill.

Rack 90% stacked with Cord parts for Phaeton.
I left the car in bare metal so there is nothing to hide. I could have easily slapped a dime store paint job on her, but besides being disgrace to the car and our hobby, I, if I were buying as car, I would rather see clean photos AND historical restoration photos if available. And they are. They are all posted here.
Car as she sat in Tennessee:
Old photographs for historical reference. They were taken before the last body man was hired and after the first. I am a poor judge of character and I am paying the price. The last one stole one of my cars as well, but that is a different story. These were taken prior to the summer of 2001.
